Announcement of the 2023 RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Award Winners

The 31st edition of the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards, presented by Women of Influence+, has announced the seven winners for 2023. The awards aim to celebrate women entrepreneurs in Canada who have made significant contributions to the local, Canadian, and global economies. The winners, recognized for their leadership, innovation, and resilience, span various sectors, including food security, AI, child advocacy, and natural supplements.

The award categories and winners for 2023 are as follows:

  1. Jolene Johnson, Wabanaki Maple, NB – Micro-Business Award
  2. Laura Suen, Fire and Steel Inc., ON – Start-Up Award
  3. Jennie Coleman, Equifruit Inc., QC – RBC Momentum Award
  4. Ginny Becker, Child Advocacy Centre of Kelowna, BC – Social Change Award: Regional Impact
  5. Onome Ako, Action Against Hunger Canada, ON – Social Change Award: National Impact
  6. Shamira Jaffer, Signifi Solutions, ON – Innovation Award
  7. Aisha Yang, Herbaland Naturals Inc., BC – Excellence Award

In addition to the main awards, five entrepreneurs were recognized in the “Ones to Watch” category earlier in September.

The award gala took place at the Ritz-Carlton in Toronto, hosted by Marcia MacMillan, Anchor, CTV News Channel. The event highlighted the achievements and contributions of women entrepreneurs in Canada, with over 11,000 nominations received this year.

RBC, TELUS Business, Brescia at Western University, and Bell Media were among the award presenters, with Deloitte serving as the official Due Diligence partner and Bulova as the official gift sponsor.

The RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards, in its 31st year, aims to spotlight influential women leaders who have excelled in the rapidly changing economy. The winners were chosen by a judging panel of 15 business leaders, including Christine Scott, Françoise Lyon, Julie Cole, Surranna Sandy, and Sylvia Morin.

Women of Influence+ CEO and Owner, Rumeet Billan, expressed pride in spotlighting and celebrating the achievements of this year’s winners and emphasized their transformative impact on the Canadian business landscape.
