Female Entrepreneurs Enriching the Ten District in City of Jenks

The city of Jenks is experiencing a surge in new development, with nearly a dozen female business owners leading the way behind some of the new shops.

“I think it’s fantastic when women realize their superpower and decide to follow their dreams. It just takes initiative, planning, and identifying your resources and team,” said Christy Lindsay, owner of Cedar & Lily on Main Street in Jenks. She is one of the many female entrepreneurs who understand the importance of catering to a specific core consumer group.

The female merchants in the Ten District work diligently to create an exceptional shopping experience, starting from the moment customers walk in the door. Across the street from Cedar & Lily is Motley Market, co-owned by Tatum Roberts and Tracie Burgess, who are passionate about empowering other women in business.

“We have to be each other’s hype women. Being a woman is hard sometimes, so we are here to help build your confidence. When you leave Motley, we hope you feel like you can conquer the world,” said Roberts. Burgess added, “If one succeeds, then everybody is going to succeed. It’s crucial to foster a sense of community and camaraderie, with everyone supporting each other’s stores to ensure mutual success.”

Nearby, Lauren Kannady co-owns Lenny Lane, which is set to become a high-end shopping destination. “It is amazing to be surrounded by women. For us, it’s community over competition all day long,” said Kannady.

Further down the street are Cookiedoodle and Kitch Café, both owned by Abby Nein. “I am definitely encouraged and inspired by the women in our community. It’s a great time for women leaders to step up and show the value we can bring,” said Nein.
