Avon UK Names Dragons’ Den’s Sara Davies as Chief Inspiration Officer to Empower Women Entrepreneurs

Avon UK has appointed Sara Davies MBE, a celebrated entrepreneur and investor on Dragons’ Den, as its new Chief Inspiration Officer. This strategic move is designed to strengthen Avon’s commitment to empowering women to launch and grow their own businesses.

Avon’s recent research reveals that nearly one-third of British women encounter significant obstacles when starting their own businesses. These challenges include difficulties in accessing finance, uncertainty about where to begin, and a lack of confidence. The study also highlights that 33% of women believe the business landscape favors men, and 23% feel they have fewer opportunities compared to their male counterparts.

In her role as Chief Inspiration Officer, Davies will lead masterclasses and mentoring sessions, offering Avon Representatives (Reps) the guidance and support they need to navigate these challenges. Her mission is to inspire and equip women to run their businesses with confidence and success.

Expressing her excitement about the role, Sara Davies stated, “I am thrilled to join Avon UK as its first Chief Inspiration Officer and to work with both budding and existing Avon Reps who are eager to build and run their own businesses on their terms. The barriers highlighted in the research resonate with my own experiences when starting my business, and I understand how daunting they can be.”

Davies shared key advice for aspiring entrepreneurs, emphasizing the importance of having a clear plan, conducting thorough research, building a personal brand, leveraging support networks, and leading with consistency and adaptability.

For over 137 years, Avon has been dedicated to fostering positive change for women, offering tools and resources to help them establish successful businesses. Avon’s flexible business model allows Reps to earn on their terms, with opportunities to become Leaders and mentor their own teams.

Tracey Powers, UK Sales Director at Avon, emphasized the company’s commitment: “We need to do more to help women overcome the barriers they face when starting their own businesses. Avon’s model provides Reps with greater choice, flexibility, and the freedom to take control of their finances and realize their potential.”

Sara Davies, the founder of Crafter’s Companion and the youngest female investor on Dragons’ Den, is passionate about supporting women in business. Her involvement with Avon has already led to an 18% increase in sales for Reps who attended her masterclasses, showcasing her positive impact.

Reflecting on her journey, Davies added, “The world of work has evolved. The traditional 9-5, which can be particularly challenging for mothers, has given way to more flexible options.
