A business network that connects women across the Yorkshire Dales and encourages innovation among rural communities has been relaunched to great fanfare. The Dales Business Women group supports professional, entrepreneurial, and businesswomen in their locality by providing such value-adding advice and encouragement.
Originally established seven years ago, the network now has new leadership, with photographer Katy Howe and Alison Laws, a senior economic development officer at North Yorkshire Council, taking up the reins at the helm. The launch event to celebrate the relaunch took place on Wednesday.
Mrs. Howe quoted, “there are lots of like-minded women who are keen to accomplish whatever they want. It is true that business development has not been so wide open and bright, but Dales Business Women has started changing the story around the whole area. The Yorkshire Dales and its periphery are full of entrepreneurial ladies contributing significantly towards this cause.
Speaking in a statement, North Yorkshire Council Leader Cllr Carl Les said organizations, like Dales Business Women, were fundamental to the collaborative and robust networks. “Those types of groups are very important for ideas sharing and business development. Networking in rural areas can be tough sometimes, so we are supportive of anything that helps networking,” he said.
“A local network is vital for small businesses because it expands contacts, opens up new opportunities, and access to local business advice. Most importantly, it fosters the strong and genuine relationships that really get you through the business landscape,” said Carolyn Frank, development manager for the Federation of Small Businesses in York and North Yorkshire on the relaunching of the network. This proactive and friendly group will have a vital role in supporting the entrepreneurship of women in North Yorkshire: We look forward to fantastic cooperation and progress as this network continues to energize local businesses.
The Dales Business Women will meet monthly at times to be determined, but perhaps this time round one month will take place in the late morning, another in the late afternoon, and an alternative time to suit all attendees. The relaunch of Dales Business Women was hosted by the Black Bull, Moulton, near Richmond, where local businesswoman Paula Richardson from Smart Bee Sales entertained members with valuable tips on how to make the most of the pre-Christmas sales period.
