Background

Momentum, a global movement that empowers Jewish women and strengthens Jewish families and communities, has named Tara Brown as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). She will officially assume the position in October, succeeding Ben Pery, who concludes a 13-year tenure marked by steady growth and impact.

Brown brings two decades of leadership experience in the Jewish community. She most recently served as National Director of Development Training and Education at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), where she played a key role in launching new initiatives to expand outreach and strengthen community engagement.

“Tara is a dynamic leader, strategist, and fundraiser,” said Connie Lindenauer, President of Momentum’s Board of Directors. “Her personal journey reflects our mission; she is living proof that a transformational trip to Israel can shape lives, careers, and families.”

Throughout her career, Brown has been a passionate advocate for Israel and Jewish continuity, focusing on community building, leadership development, and mentoring young professionals. Earlier, she served as Assistant Director of Development at the University of Maryland School of Law and Director of Finance for a Maryland congressional campaign.

A New Jersey native and longtime Maryland resident, Brown is active in the Baltimore Jewish community, serving on the Beth Tfiloh Congregation Board and supporting The Associated, Baltimore’s Jewish Federation.

Brown said she is “honored to lead Momentum into its next chapter,” building on the organization’s strong foundation.

Debbie Hochberg, immediate past president, said Brown’s leadership “comes at a pivotal moment, one that calls for clarity, strength, and vision.”

Momentum’s Board affirmed its commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and continuing its mission of empowering Jewish women worldwide.
