Eleanor McIntosh Becomes the New Superintendent of Education of The Halton Public School

For twenty years, Eleanor McIntosh has overseen schools in Durham.

Eleanor McIntosh was named superintendent of education by the Halton District School Board, and her appointment took effect on January 29.

The board stated in a news release that the post is an addition to the leadership team, funded by Ministry-directed funds, to support the HDSB’s ongoing success in student learning and the advancement of the Multi-Year Plan’s objectives.

During the hiring procedure that took place in the spring of 2023, McIntosh was a successful candidate.

According to the board, McIntosh started her career as an elementary school math and science teacher and has worked for the Durham District School Board for 20 years as a school administrator, serving various student groups in five different schools.

She has experience working with several specialized programs in Ontario as well as abroad in a range of settings.

Through her experiences as a vice-principal, a centrally appointed education officer, and a secondary school administrator, McIntosh has honed her leadership abilities.

She has undergraduate degrees in kinesiology and biochemistry as well as a master’s in educational leadership and administration.

Director of education Curtis Ennis adds, “We are thrilled to welcome Eleanor to the Halton District School Board and the senior administrative team.”
