Mastercard and Women Choice have expanded their collaboration to introduce two new initiatives – ImpactHer and EmpowerHer – designed to bolster women entrepreneurs, foster business growth, and generate employment opportunities across the Middle East and Africa.
Women Choice, an international organization dedicated to advancing women’s personal and professional development, launched the pilot cohort in 2023. The forthcoming cohorts will engage in the new programs this year, with the collective aim of impacting 50,000 women.
Mastercard has been at the forefront of providing women access to digital tools, offering training to support business initiation and expansion, establishing mentorship and networking platforms, and collaborating with employers to enhance job opportunities for women.
This partnership with Women Choice represents a significant step forward in reinforcing their mutual dedication to empowering female-led enterprises with resources and growth prospects, with the overarching goal of creating one million employment opportunities for women by 2030.
The programs will deliver comprehensive support through training and mentorship for women entrepreneurs, facilitating the creation of employment opportunities for other women in their respective sectors.
Amnah Ajmal, Executive Vice President of Market Development, EEMEA, at Mastercard, affirmed, “At Mastercard, we are dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and equitable world, where everyone can thrive. Our expanded partnership with Women Choice will not only significantly impact women in the workforce throughout the region but also equip women entrepreneurs with the essential skills, resources, and tools for success, driving economic growth in the region.”
Nezha Alaoui, Founder and CEO of Women Choice, expressed pride in the successful outcomes of the 2023 program launched in collaboration with Mastercard and expressed anticipation for the continued growth of the partnership throughout 2024. The focus now lies on amplifying the impact, recognizing that effecting change and enhancing the status of women in the workforce, while supporting women-led businesses, are critical elements for fostering economic growth and prosperity in the Middle East and Africa region.
Globally, the Women Choice network comprises 15,000 women who have participated in over 100 accelerator programs and conferences organized in recent years.
