Background
The Women Leadership Summit 2025 (WLS) was inaugurated this weekend at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. The gathering involved professional women around the nation to exchange ideas, learn, and get to know one another. The two-day event was aimed at ensuring that women were successful in their line of work and establish valuable networks.
The Honorable Helen Giddings, a well-known leader in Texas, served as the Summit Chair. She spoke about the importance of helping young women find their place in leadership and sharing the lessons learned from experience.
A highlight of the event was the Rising Star Award, given to Deme Jackson, co-founder of The Lotus Club. The Lotus Club helps Black women who face unemployment, layoffs, or career shifts. It provides them with mentorship, community support, and practical tools to step back into leadership roles confidently.
The other memorable event was a fireside conversation between Helen Giddings and Kimberly Bizor-Tolbert, the first Black woman City Manager of Dallas. The discussion centered on women helping other women to rise was moderated by NBC-5 anchor Brittney Johnson and Wayne White, CEO of the Communities Foundation of Texas. Tolbert gave a personal account of how the appointment occurred, and she remembered it was on the birthday of her dead grandfather, who inspired her to serve the people.
The Summit honored not only the leaders who have set the path but also those new voices who are making a difference today. It featured the influence of women empowering other women by kindness, wisdom and mutual experience.
In the end, the event made it clear: when women help each other, they build a stronger future, open new doors, and create lasting change for generations to come
