The Women of Steel business conference took place in Naples on Friday, bringing together over 200 women thought leaders, innovators, and change-makers. The event celebrated the achievements of these “Women of Steel” and highlighted how they can continue to leverage their unique strengths for future success. The conference aimed to inspire and empower women in their professional journeys, whether as entrepreneurs or executives.
Cortenia Hood, CEO and founder of Women of Steel, emphasized the conference’s mission: “The ultimate goal is to leave the women inspired and empowered to reach their pinnacle, whether they’re an entrepreneur or an executive. We are here to support them every step of the way.”
Keynote speakers captivated the audience with stories of triumph and personal growth. Maxeme Tuchman, founder of Caribu, which she sold to Mattel, spoke about leading at the next level. “There is a collective opportunity for women to learn not only from the people on stage but from each other,” she noted.
Faith Broussardcade, a mental health counselor, delivered a powerful message about self-worth, urging attendees to prioritize self-care. “We deserve to give ourselves more than our crumbs,” she told the audience, receiving a standing ovation.
The event also celebrated the recipients of the Women of Steel Impact Scholarship, which supports women from underserved communities who serve those same communities. One of the honorees, June Altidor, a funeral home owner, shared her journey of building a business with three funeral homes over just three years. Inspired by a desire to improve the way families were treated during difficult times, Altidor created a service focused on compassion and care. “I go above and beyond for my families,” she said, “making tragedy a celebration.”
This second annual conference continued its mission to bring women leaders together to share experiences, uplift one another, and inspire future generations of “Women of Steel.”
